TERRY RULED OUT FOR ENGLAND

John Terry will not play in England's home match versus Montenegro tomorrow (Tuesday) due to injury.
A statement on the Football Association website reads:
'John Terry has returned to Chelsea with a back injury.
'Terry was assessed by England medical staff on Sunday and will not be fit to play any part in Tuesday's game against Montenegro.
'No further call-ups will be made at this time.'
The Chelsea captain missed England matches against Bulgaria and Switzerland last month as he recovered from hamstring and glut muscle injuries.

LEADERS ONCE MORE COME TO THE BRIDGE

Stamford Bridge may not have quite matched Anfield as the focal point for football news and discussion on Wednesday, but it came as close as anywhere.
For the third year running the extensive facilities available in the West Stand are hosting the Leaders in Football conference and on Wednesday afternoon Chelsea FC chairman Bruce Buck was one of the main speakers.
The conference is attended by 1,000 senior executives from the world of football and other delegates giving talks include Mohamed bin Hammam, a member of Fifa's Executive Committee and president of the Asian Football Confederation, and Danny Jordaan who was chief executive of the World Cup Finals in South Africa back in the summer. The various bid teams for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were also represented,
However it was the hot topic of club ownership that brought Buck to the microphone for a session titled 'The chairman's view: Is ownership a rich man's play thing?'
He was joined on stage by David Gold, joint chairman of West Ham United, Steve Morgan, chairman of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Dave Checketts, owner of St Louis Blues hockey team and Real Salt Lake soccer team in the USA.
There couldn't have been a more appropriate time for such a discussion with Liverpool FC dominating the sports news.
'I don't think foreign owners per se are bad,' Buck told the conference.
'Of course I would say that, but it depends on what the objective of the foreign owner is in buying a club. If it is to make a quick few dollars, or if it is long-term profit, they are probably barking up the wrong tree.
'If they are in the position to recognise the history and the traditions of whatever club they are buying I would say let's welcome the new owner with open arms.'
Checketts stated that most US businessmen moving into club ownership this side of the Atlantic see it is an opportunity to invest and then exit and multiply their investment.
'But like most American sports owners they think they are going to go in there, do a job and be a big hero and win many championships,' he added. 'Sometimes that doesn't work out. See Exhibit A, Liverpool.
'I don't think the owners there built a relationship with the fan groups. I don't think they listened.'
While the consensus among the speakers was against the type of heavy leverage when purchasing football clubs that leaves them saddled with big debts, Buck defended debt that can be properly paid off. He explained it may become an even more important part of football financing under Uefa's new financial rules that will control money that can be invested in by owners.
'I think everybody supports financial fair play but it depends how you do it,' he added. 'It is the fine print that is really the issue.'
It was agreed limits on club debt and salary capping similar to that seen in US sports could only work in the Premier League if the rules applied across all Europe, while relegation, which does not occur in the States, is here to stay even if it has the potential to blow apart financial plans.
'Relegation and promotion is one of the great cultural aspects of European football,' insisted Buck, 'and although it is a problem for the teams at the bottom of each league in terms of the risk-to-reward ratio when they consider investment, it should always be the case that someone in Dagenham can hope his club will be in the Premier League one day.'
Last season Portsmouth showed that financial meltdown could occur in the Premier League before relegation. The panel were confident that was a one-off.
'The Premier League clubs feel we didn't have rules in place that gave us early warnings of Portsmouth's financial difficulties in terms of payment to tax authorities and debt repayment that was overdue,' Buck explained.
'So in the summer we passed a variety of rules that will allow the Premier League board to have much closer scrutiny of how clubs are doing and if they see things that are problem, give us a way of dealing with them before they are a real problem.'
The Leaders in Football conference continues today (Thursday).

BRUMA BIRTHDAY WIN; BORINI DEBUT

Posted on: Fri 13 Nov 2009

Jeffrey Bruma (pictured) continued the impeccable start to his Under 21 international career as Netherlands made it four wins out of four in their European Championship qualification group, all without conceding a goal.

On his 18th birthday, the defender, who made his Chelsea first team debut last month, played the whole of a 3-0 home win against Liechtenstein.

It was also a landmark Friday for Fabio Borini as he made his Italy Under 21 debut aged just 18. The striker, another recent Chelsea debutant, was introduced by coach Pierluigi Casiraghi at half-time in an away match in Hungary.

Unfortunately, playing up front with Inter Milan regular Mario Balotelli, Borini could not help his side turn around a one-goal deficit and Hungary added another late on to win 2-0. Italy are behind Wales and Hungary in their group and have their work cut out to qualify.

Conor Clifford, recently capped by Republic of Ireland Under 21s, was back with the Under 19s on Friday and played the full 90 minutes in a 5-0 home win over San Marino. It was the first game in a European Championship qualification campaign for the midfielder's team.

In the same group are Italy who included Jacopo Sala in their midfield and matched Ireland with a 5-0 home win over Albania.

Sala, who was delivering many of the dead-balls, was subbed on 66 minutes.

Goalkeeper Jan Sebek made his debut for Czech Republic Under 19s and although he didn't keep a clean sheet, was still victorious as his side ran out 3-1 winners over Cyrpus.

Gael Kakuta played for France Under 19s in a 3-3 draw against Greece in friendly tournament, having played the first-half of a 1-0 win over Poland on Wednesday.

DROGBA PRIMED FOR KNOCKOUT STEP

ANCELOTTI: DROGBA PRIMED FOR KNOCKOUT STEP
Posted on: Mon 02 Nov 2009

Carlo Ancelotti will unleash Didier Drogba on the Champions League for the first time this season as tomorrow in Madrid, he looks to secure passage to the knockout stage.

Chelsea coped admirably without our principal centre-forward for the three matches of his suspension, winning them all, but with Drogba in top form, like so many of his team-mates in the current run of wins, the squad can only be stronger for his availability once more.

Ancelotti has drawn a line under the incidents against Barcelona and is only looking ahead.

'I didn't speak with Drogba about last season,' the Italian says. 'I only speak about him being out in the last three games - I said to him to prepare for when he returns, ready to work for the team. Now he is ready to work for the team.'

Ancelotti is also ready to welcome Ashley Cole back into the side after a three-game absence due to a knee injury. With Yury Zhirkov injured and Saturday's stand-in left-back Paulo Ferreira not in the Champions League squad, it's a well-timed return.

'He [Cole] is ready to be able to play tomorrow,' Ancelotti reports. 'Yesterday he trained with us and it has gone well. We want to assess him tonight [in training] but I think he is good to play tomorrow.'

The team sent out onto the Vicente Calderon pitch on Tuesday evening will face an Atlético side with a new coach, although not a new opponent to Chelsea. Quique Sanchez Flores was in charge of Valencia when they played the Blues in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. He is also known to Ancelotti.

'He [Flores] is a good coach, he had good experience at Valencia and I think he can do a good job at Atlético Madrid.

'We have respect for Atlético because they play very good players. [Tomas] Ujfalusi is a good defender, [Sergio] Aguero is a very good striker, [Diego] Forlan is a very good striker and [Maxi] Rodriguez is a very good midfielder. Now is not a good moment for them but they have the quality to go out of this period.'

Praise from the manager for Aguero, linked in the press with a move to Chelsea in the summer, may make ears prick up but Ancelotti qualified his observation on the 21-year-old Argentine.

'For his age he is one of the most important in the world. He is very young, a fantastic striker. He has a lot of quality and every big club looks at this player. But we haven't thought of buying Aguero at this moment.'

For the time being Ancelotti is happy to concentrate on the squad that in the last four games has served him so well.

'In this period we played good football. Sometimes it was not always easy to play good football, but in this moment the team has a good idea of how to continue to maintain this and to go on the pitch and play good football for 90 minutes.

'I am happy because in three months we have improved."

Inter Milan chief flies in to discuss Carvalho, Deco and Maicon deals with Chelsea

Inter Milan sporting director Marco Branca has arrived in London to finalise the signings of Ricardo Carvalho and Deco from Chelsea.

The two clubs are a small distance apart on the fee and Chelsea's interest in Inter right-back Maicon gives the two sides plenty to talk about.

The Blues are happy to offload Portugal playmaker Deco for the £8million they paid out for him last year. Chelsea also hope to recoup at least half the £20m they paid to Porto for Carvalho five years ago.

Inter's offer for the pair is £8.5m plus Argentina defender Nicolas Burdisso, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, but they are open to negotiation.

Former Chelsea boss has made the signing of the 31-year-old Carvalho his priority.

New Stamford Bridge boss Carlo Ancelotti is said to be an admirer of raiding right-back Maicon and the 27-year-old's chances of leaving the San Siro are said to be 50-50.

The Brazil international has four years left on his current contract but realises it may be time to leave and has also attracted interest from Real Madrid.

The meeting with Branca may also bring the opportunity for Chelsea to probe Zlatan Ibrahimovic's availability, though he is likely to be beyond the west London club's clutches.

Meanwhile, reports in Portugal say Mourinho is to divorce his wife Matilde after 20 years of marriage.

Report: Chelsea Launch £25m Bid For Inter Star Maicon

The Blues are ready to 'Maic' their move for the flying Nerazzurri full-back...

Chelsea may have missed out on landing Glen Johnson, after the England international signed a deal with Liverpool yesterday with the club confirming an £18.5 million deal had been completed.

However, the Blues have their sights set on Inter right-back Maicon, who has impressed with his marauding runs down the right-hand side in the Confederations Cup and has kept Barcelona star Dani Alves out of Brazil's starting line-up.

The Sun reports that Inter will accept £25m for the 27-year-old defender and are even willing to part with idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic, also 27, for another £50m.

Both players were thought to be targeted by Real Madrid, but recent developments suggest that the powers that be at the Bernabeu are only interested in Maicon.

The former Monaco man has become unsettled at San Siro over the past few weeks, as he believes he has received little recognition for his considerable efforts in the Nerazzurri shirt.

REVEALED: HOW NEW ADIDAS HOME KIT

Chelsea and adidas today reveal the new home kit for the 09/10 season

Just one match away from a consecutive Uefa Champions League Final when they face Barcelona next week, the call to action behind the launch, 'Every Team Needs A 12th Man', has never been more apt.

The campaign underlines the importance and the difference that supporters make to a team's success and has unique interactive features.

By clicking here you can learn more about the campaign and take part in a Chelsea quiz to see if you have what it takes to be the 12th man.

The shirt will be worn for the first time on Sunday 17 May against Blackburn Rovers in the penultimate league game of the season.

As always adidas has incorporated the highest sporting, technology and design standards into the shirt.

The new ultra-modern kit in traditional Reflex Blue draws inspiration from looks that have graced the King's Road over the years, especially seen in the ergonomically fitted shape, crew collar design and 'epilette' three stripes.

Layered chest panelling coupled with the 3D Formotion cut allows complete freedom of movement. Waffled Climacool fabric and mesh panelling across major sweat zones will increase comfort and ensure players remain cool and dry.

The shirt also has a new streamlined crew neck collar design with 'Chelsea FC' imprinted on rubber piping running down from the neckline of the shirt.

The new replica Chelsea adidas kit goes on sale on the 14 May but you can pre-order now at the Online Megastore.

You can also keep up-to-date with the new kit and all the goings on at Chelsea with Stamford the Lion, who has his own Twitter page. Click here to find out what our club mascot has been up to, and start 'following' him now.

Hiddink hints at Chelsea stay if Russia fail to qualify

LONDON, March 20 (Reuters) - Guus Hiddink hinted on Friday he could take over at Chelsea on a full-time basis if Russia failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup finals.

The Dutchman took over at the Premier League club on a short-term basis last month, saying he would combine the job with his commitments as Russia coach until the end of the season.

"I will focus on Russia after this (Chelsea) project but people say 'think about it, stay'," Hiddink told the Daily Express newspaper on Friday.

"I enjoy it with the Russians but I do have a clause that says we can stop in November if Russia don't qualify.

"Then the Russian FA can choose another direction and I would be free to go," he added.

Since Hiddink replaced Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari, Chelsea have gone on a seven-match unbeaten run and have closed the gap on Manchester United to four points at the top of the Premier League table.

The Stamford Bridge club have also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and set up a meeting with London rivals Arsenal in the semi-finals of the FA Cup next month.

The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Champions League will be held later on Friday. (Writing by Tony Jimenez; Editing by Peter Rutherford)

Villareal striker Llorente happy to take on Chelsea, Liverpool

Villareal’s Joseba Llorente says he is happy to take on either Chelsea or Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Spanish outfit managed to get past Greek club Panathinaikos in the round of 16 thanks to a goal from Llorente and now he has his sights set higher.

“Every team is very strong, but I’d be happy to take Chelsea, for a change, or Liverpool, whose captain Gerrard has said he wants to face us,” Llorente told a press conference.

“Whatever the adversary is, Villarreal can beat anyone.”

Chelsea, Milan clubs to announce MLS tour plans

International soccer clubs AC Milan, Chelsea, Club America and Inter Milan will convene in the U.S. for a press conference at New York’s ESPN Zone to announce plans for Summer 2009.

AC Milan Director Umberto Gandini, Chelsea FC Chief Executive Peter Kenyon, Club America President Michel Bauer and FC Internazionale Milano Technical Director Marco Branca will be announcing details of the planned tournament in the USA in July.

Malouda to say goodbye to Chelsea

Chelsea winger Florent Malouda is reportedly set to begin looking for a new club after being given limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge since Jose Mourinho's departure.

Malouda is quoted by SportingLife as saying, "I would like to play more and there are three more months to try and get a space in the team. "But if that doesn't happen I will have to analyse the situation."

စကိုလာရီ ခ်ဲလ္ဆီးနွင့္ လမ္းခဲြျပီ

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect.

The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.

Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.

Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.

In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.

The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.

While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.

NUMBER'S UP FOR QUARESMA

New arrival Ricardo Quaresma has been given the squad number 18.

It's a number made vacant by Wayne Bridge's move to Manchester City during the transfer window.

The loan-signing from Inter will discover tomorrow if he is part of the Portugal squad to play a home friendly against Finland next week. He was used as a substitute by manager Carlo Queiroz in the most recent World Cup qualifier back in October.

Quaresma has 25 international caps and three goals to his name.

Lampard အနီကဒ္ပယ္ခဲ့ျပီ

Lampard was sent off by referee Mike Riley for his challenge on Xabi Alonso in the 59th minute of Sunday's match, which Liverpool won courtesy of two late goals by Fernando Torres.

An independent regulatory commission hearing today upheld Lampard's claim, resulting in the withdrawal of his three-match suspension.

The third dismissal of Lampard's career carried farcical overtones as replay showed the England midfielder made contact with the ball first.

Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari leapt to Lampard's defence, insisting the challenge was legitimate - and the club lodged their appeal with the FA yesterday.

Had the claim failed, Lampard would have missed Premier League matches against Hull and Aston Villa and an FA Cup fifth-round tie at Watford.

Chelsea received another boost with the news that full-back Jose Bosingwa would face no action after kicking Yossi Benayoun in stoppage time - Riley awarded a free-kick for the challenge but no card.

ကြာရက္စမာအား ခ်ဲလ္ဆီးအငွားျဖင့္ ေခၚယူနိင္ခဲ့ျပီ

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that we have signed Inter Milan winger Ricardo Quaresma on loan until the end of the season. The Premier League have confirmed the deal.

The 25-year-old winger can play on either flank, with his qualities of speed and finesse a regular problem for opposing defences.

Born in Lisbon on September 26, 1983, Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo began his career with local club Sporting, making his debut as a 17-year-old.

While at Sporting, he worked his way into the first team and became a regular during the championship-winning 2001/02 season alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

He made 59 league appearances in two seasons, scoring eight goals, before Barcelona approached for his services in the summer of 2003, paying six million Euros to secure his signature.

Quaresma's form in the 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2007/08 campaigns helped seal a succession of league championships, and regular Champions League football.

He is no stranger to Stamford Bridge, having played four times as a Porto player against the Blues, twice in 2004/05 and twice again two years later.

Quaresma becomes our first and only signing of the winter transfer window, and will stay with us until the end of the season.
